SCA Timber changes name to SCA Wood

SCA has officially changed its business name from SCA Timber and will now be called SCA Wood.
The SCA Group has six business areas: wood products, forestry, pulp, paper, energy and logistics. The company believes the name change from SCA Timber Supply Ltd to SCA Wood UK Ltd better describes the product SCA works with and is well understood in the global markets in which it operates.
SCA Wood UK comprises three business streams across four locations in Stoke, Welshpool, Cumbernauld and Melton, with combined manufacturing capability of 150,000 cubic m and 15,000 cubic m timber treatment facilities. These streams supply a range of timber and associated products to the UK's home improvement and building materials sectors.
In connection with these changes, the names of the different parts of the UK organisation will also change. SCA Timber Supply will therefore become Building & Supply Solutions and SCA Timber Mill Sales will become Industrial Solutions. The new names are intended to emphasise the focus on SCA’s value chains more clearly.
SCA Wood UK managing director John Griffiths said: “Our customers and suppliers will still meet the same contacts at our company and we will still work with our valued partners to provide the same high quality products and services as before.”
The Swedish company had a successful first half, with net sales up 11% to SEK 9,079million between January and June 2018, and an EBITDA increase of 45% to SEK 2,209million, as it reported “healthy demand in all of its product areas. Sales growth was growth was mainly related to higher prices, although this was offset partly by lower pulp volumes.
