Scotts Solus Brands announces first update since acquisition
Published: 18 August 2014
Five weeks have passed since the brands formerly owned by
wholesaler Solus were acquired by Scotts Miracle-Gro and now the newly-formed division, Scotts Solus Brands, has announced a progress update.
News which will ease minds of Solus stockists is that the full Solus range of categories and brands will be available this autumn and for the following 2015 seasons.
This has been possible via the long-standing Solus sourcing unit in Asia. The employees of that organisation are already working with Scotts staff to ensure ample product availability.
However, no prices have yet been agreed. A pricing structure will be confirmed by SKU after GLEE, September 14 to 16, once the company has completed key supplier meetings.
The new division has inevitably been affected by the administrator's decision to shut four Solus warehouses. Scotts Solus Brands has stated that this may affect lead times.
The division is also keen to emphasise that the sales teams from both companies are beginning to work together and any queries can be directed to a Scotts Miracle-Gro rep, a Scotts Solus rep or the respective sales office.
Martin Breddy, general manager of Scotts Miracle-Gro has directed the following statement to customers: "I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we restore new ways of working after the administration period.
"We will have our usual Scotts Miracle-Gro presence at GLEE. In addition, we will have a Scotts Solus Brands exhibit to showcase our newly acquired brands and share news on joint plans for 2015 and the years ahead.
"I am excited by the opportunity to bring these two businesses together and create a unique and compelling gardening offer for our retail partners."
The Solus brands were acquired in July by Scotts Miracle-Gro after months of wrangling and a drawn out administration period during which over 100 employees were made redundant.
The Scotts Solus Brands division now consists of the following brands: Yeoman, Joseph Bentley, ChapelWood, Botanico, Garden Nation and Bermuda.
