Screwfix has launched a European shipping service as a result of what it calls "intense interest from international customers".
The multi-channel, Kingfisher-owned company receives thousands of hits a week from European visitors from as far afield as Finland and Latvia, and high volumes of orders are already being received from France, Spain and Ireland. Power and hand tools are particularly popular.
Now, Screwfix is shipping to 23 countries across Europe, with doorstep delivery for all orders. Customers can browse a range of more than 16,000 products, specially selected to meet the international shipping requirements of the country they are ordering from. Orders are received between five and seven working days later, with free delivery for orders over £100.
John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix, said: "After receiving so much interest in our website from international visitors, we decided that enabling European delivery would help us grow our market with both new and existing Screwfix customers, many of which are expats now living outside the UK."
He said many international customers had been relying on friends and family in the UK to deliver their Screwfix products.
"In addition, many of our suppliers currently only trade within the UK and so this is a great opportunity for them to increase their customer base and brand awareness across Europe," he added.
