New owner Ammar Ali has taken over the store after learning the trade in his father's shop, Carlton DIY of Nottingham, and is trading as Shirebrook DIY, Home & Garden. The store re-opened on January 16.

Mr Ali told DIY Week that he intends to continue the business much as before, but with more competitive pricing. He has already installed a new plumbing section, and is planning to apply for BIRA membership.

The shop has re-opened with more than 5,000 different products on offer including ironmongery, homewares, tools, electrical goods, decorating products, timber and building materials as well as a gardening section.
