Sika has acquired Everbuild, the UK's largest independent manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and construction chemicals, to help strengthen its position in the builder's merchant market.
Everbuild, which is located in Leeds, has an annual sales revenue in excess of £60 million and a workforce of 270 employees. A spokesperson for the company told DIY Week today that Everbuild will now operate as a subsidiary of Sika UK and will be managed under the existing management team. They added that all Everbuild staff would remain with the company.
There will, however, be a few changes at the top, as although Everbuild founder and md David Seymour will remain within the business, his work will now incorporate both the Sika and Everbuild brands, and he will be replaced as managing director by Sika general manager Ivo Schaedler.
Founded by Mr Seymour in 1994, Everbuild is a highly reputed brand in the UK building market and a leader in professional distribution channels. The company operates a manufacturing facility for the full range of construction chemical product,s with laboratories and a logistic hub in Leeds, UK.
Mr Seymour said of the move: "With Sika we have the possibility to further grow our business and to benefit from the broad R&D capabilities for further product innovation".
The acquisition will strengthen Sika's position in the construction chemical market and in the distribution and Do-It-Yourself channels."
Sika ceo Jan Jenisch added: "We are very proud to welcome the successful team of Everbuild in the Sika family. The acquisition will give us a strong position in the UK distribution market and offers considerable potential to further leverage Everbuild's sales channels with Sika's product range."
