Brian L Dunsby receives Award for Achievement in Enterprise Promotion in recognition of support of small and medium enterprises.
Her Majesty the Queen has bestowed Her Award for Achievement in Enterprise Promotion on Brian L Dunsby, founder of Silverperl Products.

Mr Dunsby – now Principal of Perlex Associates, Harrogate – received the award in recognition of more than 20 years in support of small and medium enterprises.

Older readers may recall that Brian & Beryl Dunsby founded Silvaperl Products Ltd in 1977 to bring Perlite into the UK horticultural market and they then built up the Silvaperl Group as growing media specialists.

Silverperl was sold to William Sinclair Holdings in 1987 and Brian Dunsby started a career helping other entrepreneurs build their businesses and in turn raise the professionalism of small business advisers.

The pair took on the administration of the Commercial Horticultural Association from 1992 until 1997 including numerous overseas trade missions.

They have also acted as Secretary and press officer for the John Innes Manufacturers Association since 1991, being re-elected again at the recent JIMA 2008 AGM.

They now organise international Conferences on small business and also run Harrogate Chamber of Trade & Commerce, including their popular Yorkshire Business Market.

The official Queen's Award citation states that 'much of Brian's involvement in enterprise promotion has been at personal cost or business risk'.
