Garden products supplier Greentree has been acquired by Smart Solar for an undisclosed sum, and its founder Gary Ackers has been appointed to a new role of commercial director.
Mr Ackers built Greentree into a £1m business in just four years, and has been in the garden trade for 12 years. He brings a wealth of experience in purchasing, planning and supply chain management that will support the growth plans of Smart Solar.

As part of his new role, Mr Ackers will be managing the integration of the Greentree business as well as having responsibility for the entire supply chain and purchasing team. "This is a great opportunity for me to join a company that has ambitious plans for the future," he said. "I am looking forward to playing my part in the executive management team that is leading Smart Solar's development."

Smart Solar's founder and chief executive Jonathan Stobart added: "Gary's industry knowledge and experience in purchasing and product development will bolster our existing skills and take our supply chain management to a new level."
