The Summer Outdoor Living Exhibition - which has traditionally been a firm fixture at the Telford International Centre - will be moving to the Birmingham NEC for its 2013 show.
Bosses at the Leisure and Outdoor Furniture Association (LOFA), which organises the trade show, have told DIY Week that exhibiting space at the TIC has been tight for several years now. The show, which takes place from July 16 - July 18, is expecting around 3,000 visitors and space for the 40 top garden and furniture brand names exhibiting at the show is precious.
This year's will be the first Solex for
new LOFA secretary and show organiser Phil Gibbs, who spoke to DIY Week about the upcoming event and change in location.
"There has been an almost overwhelming desire to show at Solex 2012, and for the fifth year running the show space at TIC is totally full, and there is a waiting list for space both in the main show and the enterprise area.
"There are also several current members who would like more space but this has not been possible. As a result of this increase in interest, and the waiting lists, it has been decided to move the show to the National Exhibition Centre from 8-10 July 2013."
And while space for exhibitors might be tight, the show is keen to give its current venue a good send off by encouraging as many new and returning visitors as possible.
Mr Gibbs added: "To miss Solex when times are hard might be tempting, but it is a false premise. Getting it right now for next year is vital."
