Solus md leaves the company to set up new venture
Published: 2 December 2013
The managing director of Solus Garden & Leisure, Nick Davies, has resigned and left the company.
After 29 years at the helm of the business, Mr Davies left at the end of November to head up a new venture within the garden industry that is expected to launch next year.
"The garden industry has seen considerable change in the supply chain over the last 12 months," Mr Davies said. "Retailers at all levels have been concerned regarding continuity of supplies.
"The new business, which has sound financial backing and support from one of the leading players in the industry, will focus on developing quality products and high levels of customer service. It will be managed by respected and seasoned garden industry professionals who share my drive and passion for the business. At this time next year the business will be a major force within the garden industry."
Former national accounts controller at Solus, Andy Abraham, will be joining Mr Davies; they have worked alongside each other for 19 years. Due to the planned scale of the business, Mr Davies and his management team will spend the next several months developing the infrastructure for the new venture.
