Published: 4 February 2014
There have been reports of a possible new B&M store opening in Bodmin in Cornwall that could create 75 jobs in the local area.
'This is Cornwall' reported that the discount retailer's plans are part of phase two of the multimillion-pound Callywith Retail Park which could see work beginning in the summer if planners approve the scheme. The article reported that B&M wants to take on two-thirds (22,500sq ft) of the remaining land and two additional retail units.
A spokesman for B&M said it is too early to confirm the news, but said: "We are very keen to open a store in Bodmin and are actively seeking opportunities to increase the number of B&M stores in Cornwall.
"We're proud to have recently opened our Saltash store in the county but as a growing business with 370 stores nationwide are always looking to expand further."
The Liverpool-based value chain sells products including homewares, DIY products, furniture and outdoor living products and its new Saltash branch in Cornwall is currently its only in the county.
Former Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy is now the chairman of B&M and its number of stores has grown from around 20 to 370 today.
