Green-fingered employees at Squire's Garden Centres recently held a 24-hour "Plant-athon" on March 17 and 18, raising over £4,000 for the charity Greenfingers.
Squire's managing director Dennis Espley planted day and night in order to raise money for Greenfingers, a charity which create magical gardens for children and their families at hospices around the UK.
Mr Espley was joined by some special guests, including Andy McIndoe, who is one of the UK's leading horticulturists with a record 25 Gold Medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and Andrew Gill, the president of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture.
Customers came along to Squire's to watch the Plant-athon, as did children from Bagshot Lea Infant School. The children were able to ask questions, got lots of gardening hints and tips, and even rolled up their sleeves and got involved in the planting too.
Specially planted up Spring pots from the Plant-athon were sold and 20% from each sale was given to Greenfingers, to raise money for this fantastic charity. Donations can still be made at:
