Squire's Garden Centres will be opening a new garden centre in Chertsey this March, and relaunching its Hersham centre just two weeks later.
Squire's in Chertsey has undergone a complete re-build to include a fresh outdoor plant area, new garden centre shop and a brand new cafe bar situated in an octagonal lodge building dating back to the Napoleonic wars. The centre will be opened on March 1 by the Mayor of Runnymede, Councillor Alan Alderson as well as the Mayoress.
A giant, 200-year-old olive tree is being planted at the site to mark the occasion, and the Mayor will also be unveiling a commemorative plaque. Speeches will be made by chairman Colin Squire and deputy chair Sarah Squire.
The occasion will also mark the new appointment of Matt Tanner as manager of the centre. Mr Tanner was previously assistant manger at Squire's Badshot Lea.
The opening day will also include complimentary drinks as well as live music.
Just two weeks later, on March 17, the new and improved Squire's of Hersham will be unveiled. The date holds special significance for this particular centre, as it opened on the same day 33 years ago.
The site has undergone a significant extension of the shop and cafe bar, as well as the introduction of a new plant area layout with extended glass canopy. The cafe bar has been completely refurbished with new furniture, new kitchen and a new decked verandah with views over the plant area.
The centre will be opened officially by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Tannia Shipley, and Colin and Sarah Squire will once more be giving special speeches.
Customers attending the opening day will be able to enjoy a bespoke “Gardener's Afternoon Tea Party,” with Squire's donating a percentage of the ticket sales to industry charity Greenfingers.
