Topps Tiles store manager Nick Gadd has beaten off stiff competition to be awarded the South-East NOCN Learning at Work Award at the Adult Learners' Week Awards 2015.
Praised for using his Retail Management Advanced Apprenticeship to guide and lead a unified workforce, Mr Gadd used the skills he had learnt to turn the Topps Tiles Fulham branch into a high-performing store, with exceptional levels of customer service and employee engagement.
The prestigious event, which celebrates lifelong learning, was held last week in London.
Mr Gadd said he was very proud to have received the accolade. "Embarking on further learning has helped me to continue to deliver great results, whether that's by inspiring an engaged and committed workforce or giving customers a great experience when they enter the Fulham store."
Topps learning & development manager Laura Morris added: "Nick has used his apprenticeship to further his skills and build a motivated team that has delivered high standards and results at the store.
"By investing time in training, and by developing and coaching his team, he's created a special ambience within the store that is the perfect environment for an engaged team where customers in turn are engaged.
"The results speak for themselves and Fulham has seen exceptional results and strong sales growth over the past year."
