Suffolk retailer re-launches under Home Hardware identity

A second independent DIY retailer has re-launched as a Home Hardware store.
The owners of The Handyman, in Brandon, Suffolk, recently decided to align with Home Hardware and have re-launched as Wilby's Home Hardware.
Owners, Carl and Tina Wilby, run the high street shop and have made significant changes to the layout by moving popular, consumable favourites to the rear of the shop to drive footfall further in. Mr Wilby also moved and rotated the existing shelving systems at the front of the store to create angled, wider gondola ends, helping to improve customer awareness to the ranges available inside.
Mr Wilby said: "We were invited to attend the Home Hardware corporate members meeting back in April and found the event both welcoming and enjoyable. One of the many benefits of being a corporate member is sharing marketing successes with other corporate stores and being able to opt in to initiatives that you believe can help your business grow."
"One of the initiatives promoted a 'customer loyalty card' which is perfect for us," added Mrs Wilby. "We sell a lot of wild bird food, pet food and wool, all good consumable lines that encourage repeat footfall. Being able to gain customer commitment to purchasing these items from our store will increase loyalty and help us create additional sales."
The couple previously traded as Border Building Supplies, elsewhere in the town, before selling to Travis Perkins in 2007. Their re-launch weekend took place on September 27 and 28.
