Summerseat acquires second garden centre

Published: 5 June 2013
Summerseat Garden Centre has bought out Stephen H. Smith's Garden & Leisure Bolton branch, a 1.67 hectare purpose-built business including a restaurant and Edinburgh Woollen Mill concession.
Summerseat owner John Ainscow said: "We have always admired Stephen H. Smith's Bolton garden centre and when it came on the market, we knew it would present us with a great opportunity for expansion."

The deal was overseen by Gilbert Evans, and partner for the firm Mike Gilbert added: "Demand for garden centres across the country continues, especially for centres like this that are well located with a strong customer base and excellent staff."

Meanwhile, Stephen H. Smith Garden & Leisure partner Chris Smith explained: "We have owned the garden centre for many years and are confident that Summerseat Garden Centre Ltd. is the right company to pick up the reins and further build on the centre's success to date."

The business was bought for an undisclosed sum.
