Symphony Group shortlisted for sustainability award
Published: 16 December 2011
Kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture manufacturer Symphony Group has been shortlisted for the Sustainability Award recently launched by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.
The group was shortlisted with three other companies: kitchen furniture manufacturer Premiere Kitchens and office furniture manufacturers Orangebox and Senator International.
The four businesses will now present their sustainability programmes in person at the next meeting of judges on March 30, 2012.
Details of their sustainability achievements will go on public display at Furniture Makers' Hall in the City of London from March 20, with the award presented to the winner at the annual Installation Dinner at the Mansion Hose in May.
Award organiser Oliver Heal said: "With a combined turnover approaching £250m and providing direct employment for more than 2,000 people, these four businesses are a vibrant demonstration of the imaginative, progressive and innovative work being done within the furniture industry.
"They show that the industry is committed to being environmentally proactive by investing in facilities and promoting programmes of action to improve all aspects of furniture production from raw material selection right throughout to 'end of life' recycling. Major progress in reducing energy consumption and significantly cutting down landfill waste are just two of the areas in which these firms are succeeding."
