Work is now underway on Liverpool retailer Taskers' newest store, which is due to open in the last quarter of this year.
The outlet, in Hunt's Cross on the southern edge of the city, will be the third of Taskers' full-range stores: the existing two are in Aintree and Wavertree. Taskers also has two Taskers Decorative shops, in Formby and Heswall.
Taskers Hunt's Cross will comprise 100,000sq ft of space - 53,000sq ft on the ground floor and 40,000 on the first floor - and there will also be a 7,000sq ft garden area outdoors.
It will present the full Taskers offer of around 40,000 product lines across 22 departments, from electrical, paints and tools to wallcoverings, security and plumbing. The stock profile will mirror the Aintree flagship store, with enhanced and improved displays.
Managing director John Taskers told diyweek.net: "Hunt's Cross lies to the south of the city where we have much less penetration - we have established this through market research and mosaic profiling.
"The south of the city is also an ideal area for our offer as it contains a very high proportion of owner-occupiers in larger houses with more affluent occupants.
"Hunt's Cross is also inside the coverage area of the local media that we currently use, and can be serviced from our Aintree warehouses and generate additional sales without significantly adding to these existing costs."
Taskers is the largest independent home and DIY store in the UK.
