Supermarket chain launches dedicated website providing customers with home surveys and installation services, including loft and cavity wall insulation, solar hot water systems and double-glazed doors and windows.
Tesco says it plans to take the 'hassle' out of having these items fitted and sets its offer out as "unique". A statement on the new dedicated website
www.tescowindows.com, which also links to its home efficiency website for insulation, reads: "You may have heard some horror stories surrounding direct sales techniques employed by most home improvement sales people that don't take no for an answer? The 4 hour sales pitch, aggressive sales tactics, nagging phone calls and ludicrous discounts are common place, which all makes for a very unpleasant experience!"
It continues: "At Tesco Windows & Doors we're visibly different in so many ways...
There's NO salesmen, NO hard sell and NO price deception, we instead are quite unique."
The supermarket chain is also keen to promote its 'transparent pricing' and publishes a series of guide prices on the website. The firm advertises a guide price of £554 for casement windows, while loft insulation, whether for a one-bed flat or four-bed detached house, is offered at £198 for a complete install. Cavity wall insulation is offered at the same price, while the price of installing a solar hot water system starts at £3,899.
Customers are also promised double clubcard points with each transaction.
