Grocer Tesco has announced that it plans to close its six remaining Homeplus outlets, putting up to 450 jobs at risk.
The retailer said in a statement that the stores in Bristol, Bracknell, Bromborough, Denton Nottingham, and Preston will close next month.
Tesco had already closed six of its Homeplus branches, which sold clothing, electricals and furniture, in a series of 43 store closures announced in January.
In 2012,
it was reported that the retail giant was keen to exit the leases on all of its Home Plus outlets and focus on its grocery business.
Confirming the latest round of closures, a spokesperson for Tesco said: "We've taken the difficult decision to close our remaining six Homeplus stores. Our priority is now to explain what this announcement means for our colleagues and wherever possible, offer them alternative roles with Tesco."
Tesco posted the worst results in its history this year, with a record pre-tax loss of £6.4bn for the year ended of February 28, 2015.
