The Garden Centre Group has moved to expand its commercial capabilities and offering to customers by appointing leading talent from across the retail industry.
The UK's largest chain of garden centres is in the process of building a new trading team and to strengthen this team TGCG has made four new appointments.
Stuart Heritage joins TGCG from Dixons Retail as head of category commercial management. He will work across categories and partner with all suppliers to explore new opportunities and initiatives which will benefit the group and customers.
Also joining TGCG is Anita Morrison. She comes from Britvic and will become TGCG's head of decision support, ensuring customers get the best prices and promotion on all products.
Joining from Homebase is Mairi Devlin. She is a category manager who brings with her a decade of experience in garden buying and sourcing products. David Mitchell comes from Waitrose as a specialist plant buyer.
Trading director at TGCG, Dan Zinner, said: "As the leader in the garden centre industry, TGCG aspires to bring the best of the retail industry to the gardening world. We are building a trading team that brings passion about retail and leadership in the commercial best practices, as well as some of the industry's deepest expertise in the horticultural category."
In addition to these appointments, TGCG is also investing in appointing talent to join the group in areas such as support and visual merchandising to inspire and communicate better with customers.
Mr Zinner added: "These appointments are testament to the strength of the TGCG brand and we are delighted with the calibre and expertise across our entire trading team. We look forward to what is ahead for our customers and our industry."
TGCG recently announced it was
restructuring its retail division, which saw the group streamline from 12 geographical regions to six.
TGCG acquired its 140th garden centre in March, with the acquisition of Brooks Nursery & Garden Centre in Bude, Cornwall.
