With ambitious plans to breach the 100 store mark by the end of the year, The Range is on target as it opens its 89th store in Benton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
In recent weeks there has been a flurry of announcements that Homebase is axing stores across the country and The Range is moving in.
These stores include
Grimsby,
Loughborough, Sunderland,
Sutton-in-Ashfield and Taunton.
The new store in Benton is opening in an old Focus DIY store on August 1.
It is hoped that the store will bring 150 full- and part-time jobs to the area, with jobs ranging from managerial positions, to warehouse and admin staff.
Managing director, Chris Dawson, said: "I would like to thank the council for welcoming us and being so supportive.
"We feel that The Range is a unique shopping experience that has something for everyone and we are confident that the people of Benton will enjoy what The Range has to offer.
"Benton is a location with so much potential, we are continuing to grow fast and expand and I am confident that The Range Benton will help us in doing this."
Other confirmed store openings include Aberdeen and Eccles, Greater Manchester which is due to open in the autumn.
