The Range reaches target and opens 100th store

Despite missing its original Christmas 2014 deadline, The Range opened its 100th store in Peverell on Friday morning.
The landmark outlet was branded with a large 100th store logo, which incorporated scenes of Plymouth on tiles decorated by the children of Mayflower Community Academy primary school.
The ribbon was cut at 9am by The Range founder and owner Chris Dawson, along with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, Councillor Michael Fox and Mrs Rosemary Fox. They were also joined by three budding entrepreneurs from Plymouth University who entered a Dragons Den style competition with Mr Dawson the previous week.
The Range, which started in Plymouth over 25 years ago, now stretches all over the UK with stores in England, Wales and Scotland. Plans have been revealed that the retail super chain will be opening around 35 new stores in 2015.
The new store has created over 80 jobs; from warehouse staff and sales assistants to store and office managers.
Mr Dawson commented: "It is a very proud moment for me to be opening my 100th store - and to be able to do it where it all started makes it even more special. The company has grown from just one store all those years ago and I couldn't be prouder of this achievement. It has taken a lot of hard work to get here and I want to thank all of the staff that have worked hard to make this happen. I hope that."
