The Sun seeks Britain's Best Garden Centre
Published: 5 September 2012
The Sun newspaper has launched a campaign to find Britain's Best Garden Centre.
It is asking readers to nominate the centre or retail nursery that has done the best job of supplying them with plants, equipment and help over the years.
The paper says the winning garden centres will provide top quality plants at value-for-money prices, sold by well-trained staff able to give sound advice with a smile.
The Sun is providing regional prizes for the five businesses that attract the most votes, plus a national prize for the centre topping the poll overall. In addition, Garden Trade News is putting up awards for smaller outlets that employ fewer than 50 staff.
Readers can nominate their favourite garden centre by post or email or by posting their vote in a special box at any of the retailers displaying The Sun's poster. Those voting also stand a chance of winning one of 40 £25 National Garden gift vouchers.
The Sun describes good garden centres as "treasures...They boast plant displays to match national flower shows - but all for free - plus good coffee shops or restaurants and of course free car parking.
"These businesses have had a pretty tough time with one of the most difficult spring and early summer seasons ever," it goes on, "so the hard workers deserve our recognition."
