A Lancashire garden centre drew a major police presence yesterday after a toddler went missing on the premises.
Officers locked down Bradley Fold Garden Centre near Bolton after three-year-old Deacon Stott disappeared while on a visit - but the story had a happy ending. The little boy was eventually found safe and well, snoozing in the pet department.
Deacon was on a trip to the garden centre with his great-grandparents yesterday morning when they realised he had vanished. Seven police cars attended the scene and officers joined forces with shoppers and members of staff to hunt for the missing boy.
Security cameras at the garden centre revealed no trace of Deacon. But after some 40 minutes of searching one of the staff found him fast asleep on the floor in the pet section alongside the rabbits.
Deacon's mother, Samantha Green, told The Bolton News: "He falls asleep anywhere. He is just like his dad, he could fall asleep on a washing line.
"My nanna said everyone couldn't do enough. All the shoppers and workers and everyone were trying to find him. She said she was really overwhelmed, everyone was so helpful and really concerned. It just shows how people care for each other."
