Tool kit and ceiling fan deemed dangerous
Published: 1 October 2012
A tool kit and a ceiling fan are amongst the latest dangerous products to have been withdrawn or recalled from the market.
The tool kit, which is branded Gadget, consists of 141 components supplied in a grey plastic case. Amongst them is a hammer whose head can break; the detached parts can then cause injuries to the eyes or other parts of the body.
The Chinese-made kit is model number 330555 and batch number/barcode 3 800 123 117930, and has been withdrawn from the market.
Meanwhile, a Blyss brand Tennessee ceiling fan has been recalled from end users because of the danger posed by the spinning blades.
The metal blades of the 142cm satin chrome-effect fan are too sharp, and should a consumer mount the product below the required 2.3m stated within the instructions and on the product and come into contact with the spinning blades there is a risk of injury.
