The 2,500sq ft unit, which will open in late spring, will be the fifth such store and the first outside the capital. Topps' previous launch of a boutique store was in London's Bayswater last September.

Commenting on the new store, the company's property acquisition manager Warren Bester said: "We're delighted to be able to offer our Topps Tiles expertise to homeowners in the Cheshire area.

"We're excited to be launching the boutique concept outside of London for the first time and we are confident that our customers will enjoy the new shopping experience."

Topps is also opening a new full-line store at Stroud in Gloucestershire.

Topps achieved a 6% rise in like-for-like revenues in its first quarter, the company revealed last month, and ended the period with 336 stores. It said it was on course to take a one third share of the domestic tile market.
