Topps' Q1 sales rise 6% like for like

Topps Tiles achieved a 6% rise in like-for-like revenues in its first quarter, the company said today, although growth slowed from the 9.3% of the same period last year.
The UK's largest tile specialist ended the period - the 13 weeks to December 27 2014 - with 336 stores.
CEO Matthew Williams said: "I'm delighted to report an encouraging start to our financial year, with like-for-like sales growth of 6% in the first quarter. This is particularly pleasing as it builds on our strong sales growth in the corresponding period in the prior year.
"We're confident that our plan for 2015 will see us further extend the appeal of the Topps brand and move closer to our strategic goal of taking a one third share of the domestic tile market."
In November, Topps reported a full-year rise in revenue of 9.8% to £195.2m, up 8.6% on a like-for-like basis, while pre-tax profit rose from £10.6m to £16.7m - up 58%.
