The firm report a pre-close update for the 26 week period ending 28 March.

A drop in sales was not surprising as Topps has revealed at its annual general meeting total revenues for the first 13 weeks of the financial year had decreased by 13.1% with like-for-like revenues reduced by 18.1%.

Overall revenue was approximately £92m (2008: £106.3m), with like-for-like (lfl) revenue expected to show a decline in the region of 18% (2008: -0.9%).

Topps trade from 340 stores, but have said it's going to limit the store opening programme.

The board will announce interim results for the 26 week period to 28th March 2009 on Wednesday 27 May 2009.
