Tor Coatings acquires Bollom Fire Protection

Published: 8 January 2008
Paint and adhesives manufacturer, Tor Coatings, has made its first acquisition since joining the American giant, RPM, last year.
The Gateshead-based company has bought the Bollom Fire Protection business for an undisclosed sum after its parent company, the Bollom Group, went into administration.

Bollom made decorative, fire-retardant coatings for structural steel, internal walls and ceilings.

Tor marketing manager, Paul Waller, said: "We have been involved in passive fire protection for over 30 years. Historically our focus in this area has been on large-scale, specification-driven building refurbishment projects.

"Bollom, on the other hand, has tackled smaller jobs, selling directly to the independent trade. The deal means that, for the first time, we are able to offer fire protective solutions alongside our merchant ranges."
