Turnover up 15% at John Browns Garden Centre

John Browns Garden Centre in Dorset has reported an increased turnover of 15% for the period from January to August 2010.
The Three Legged Cross centre, which is the latest addition to the Golden Acres Group, finished an extensive refurbishment nearly two years ago.
Centre manager Jeremy Green said: "Turnover is still increasing and that's a like-for-like figure as the refurbishment was completed before last year's comparison figures. The number of new customers has also grown and customer retention is very high. It's a particularly good result because last year's weather was so good and this year's wasn't - we had frost risk here until the end of May, which massively affected plant sales, and since then there has been very little rain - plus uncertainty over the economy!"
He added: "None of us really expected the growth to be quite as high as it is - it's been exceptional during a time of recession. The refurbishment has played a big part in that, and so has the great team here that is very good with customers. That in particular encourages repeat business because customers know staff will give them the time they need."
The centre's coffee shop has seen enormous growth in the period, increasing sales by 27% on last year.
