UPDATE: Fire destroys Dunelm Mill store

Published: 7 October 2011
A Dunelm Mill store on Orchard Retail Park in Coventry has been destroyed by a large fire which broke out in the early hours of yesterday morning.
More than 80 fire fighters battled the blaze, which caused partial collapse at the Dunelm store and also destroyed a neighbouring Dreams bed store.

Neighbouring Currys, PC World, and Carpetright stores have also suffered 10% smoke damage, according to an incident report from the West Midlands Fire Service.

Group commander Nigel Soame said: "A small fire can be prevented by having sprinkler systems, and we would encourage all business owners to think about putting sprinklers in to these industrial units. Sprinklers would have been a good way to prevent fire spreading in this incident, within the units and between units."
