Troubled Liverpool retailer Rapid Hardware
re-opened its doors on Saturday under the new alias Rapid Discount Outlet Ltd.
Administrator Duff & Phelps, appointed to the store back in February, confirmed to DIY Week that the sale of Rapid Hardware to Rapid Discount Outlet Ltd had been completed.
The store is still firmly in the hands of the Doherty family, with Kim-Marie Doherty listed as the sole director of the new company, with father and son team Martin and Daniel Doherty the only existing shareholders.
The weekend certainly brought plenty of interest to the all new Rapid as its doors reopened, from old regular customers to curious locals and bargain hunters, drawn in by several new red discount signs throughout the store. Speaking to local press, several shoppers said they were pleased to see the store back on its feet, although those hoping to obtain refunds or redeem lost purchases from the former store were left disappointed.
