Volunteer dons running shoes for charity
Published: 22 September 2010
Greenfingers volunteer John Tugman, who is currently being treated for cancer, is taking part in the 2010 Bupa Great South Run on October 24 to raise funds for the charity.
Mr Tugman, who was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May this year, will be running with Greenfingers director of marketing and fundraising Deborah Skillicorn.
He said: "My treatment has been going well and I have now been able to continue with my training for the event, which I started before I became ill but had to give up when I was diagnosed with cancer. I am really looking forward to taking part in the run. I am hoping to raise £1,500 for Greenfingers."
The charity was launched in November 1998 and has created 30 magical gardens at children's hospices across the UK, with more planned for 2010.
