John Lewis Partnership has announced that homewares, kitchenware and gifts will be sold through Waitrose's online shop and in some of its best performing stores.
The move, which is designed to compete with the likes of Tesco, brings the Waitrose and John Lewis businesses closer than ever before. Customers will be able to have the goods delivered to their homes or to their local Waitrose store for collection.
Meanwhile, the company's second 'Foodhall from Waitrose' will open later this week, at its John Lewis store in Bluewater. It follows the success of its first foodhall in its Oxford Street branch.
In a statement, Waitrose managing director Mark Price said: "This is a hugely exciting venture, Working in collaboration with John Lewis and having their products as part of our range will strengthen Waitrose's presence on the high street even more and will give us a real opportunity to rival our four main competitors with an exceptional non-food offer which will be unmatched."
