Wavin donates products for canal restoration
Published: 22 September 2014
Wavin is once again supporting the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust by donating drainage products to help with the restoration of a 30m long section of canal at Pewsham.
The supplier of water management, plumbing, heating and drainage systems has provided 500mm diameter Twinwall and fittings that will be used to carry water during the rebuild project in Wiltshire.
Wavin's products will enable the diversion of the stream that runs underneath the canal while 10m of exposed culvert is rebuilt and the towpath restored to its original position and level. With the heavy winter rains last winter, the century-old brick culvert had sprung a leak.
The Wilts & Berks Canal links the Kennet and Avon Canal at Semington, near Melksham, to the River Thames at Abingdon.
