That equates to 672,000 home improvement jobs needing to be done, 13% of which were in London.

The most in-demand region for roofing jobs has been the north east, which took a 12% share of all roofing jobs in the UK, while the Midlands is the key area for gardening jobs, with 13% of gardening tasks being posted in this region.

Meanwhile, 13% of home improvement jobs in total were for plumbers in Northern Ireland.

Said Chris Havemann, RatedPeople.com ceo: "The numbers...give an indication as to the size and potential of the home improvement industry. The ongoing demand for home improvement is great news for both homeowners and the tradesmen industry."
