4Leaves Innovation Ltd's Peter Manning, creator of the Wellitop, generated a lot of interest when he appeared in front of Glee's Garden Angels at the NEC yesterday.
Mr Manning showcased the Wellington boot cover that
secured him a £100,000 investment earlier this year, as well as one of his latest products, the RainCan, in a Dragon Den-style format at the trade exhibition.
An expert panel, made up of B&Q category manager Steve Guy, former Millbrook Garden Company md Sue Allen and Gardman ceo Paris Natar, loved the products and were more than happy to make Mr Manning an offer.
Mrs Allen, who is still a director of Millbrook, insisted she was keen to stock the items, while Mr Guy explained he was interested in another six products Mr Manning said he had in the pipeline. A proposal for B&Q exclusivity across the range was even discussed - so watch this space.
Even DIY Week has had a hand in the success of the Wellitop, with a number of retailers, including Homebase, getting in touch with Mr Manning after reading the coverage online and in the mag.
Mr Manning was also on stand at Glee with Wellitop distributor Creative Products.
