An array of allotment gardens grown in wheelbarrows went on display at this year's Devon County Show, created by local schoolchildren with a little help from Fermoy's Garden Centre.
Fermoy's gave 30 schools a wheelbarrow, compost, seeds and £20 and asked them to create a vegetable garden.
The challenge resulted in a fantastic variety of wheelbarrow gardens, including a Noah's ark where each child had made a pair of animals coloured with vegetable dye, plus several herb gardens and Royal Wedding barrows.
More than 3,000 visitors to the show chose their favourite barrow, with Fermoy's vouchers awarded to the top three: a Royal Wedding scene, a fishing boat design and 'The Red Barrow', a spin on a spitfire plane.
Fermoy's company development manager Sarah Dumont said: "It has been such a successful project. Our suppliers were generous enough to donate the compost and barrows and so the initial outlay for us was minimal. The barrows were a delight and made a stunning display, which caught the imagination of visitors who were delighted to see what we had encouraged the children to do."
