Which? magazine slaps warning on B&Q barbecue
Which? Gardening issued a 'don't buy' warning on B&Q's Quebec Round barbecue in its latest round of barbecue testing.

The grill, which retails at £14.98 was deemed a hazard after Which? stated "independent lab tests raised concerns about the safety of the B&Q Quebec."

A spokesperson for B&Q said that the company has looked into the issue raised by the Which report?. "We have sold a barbecue of this design for over five years (albeit previously sold under a different name and colour).

"Over the last three years we've sold over 35,000 units. The current Quebec barbecue on sale in B&Q meets with the necessary test standards for barbecues (BSEN 1860) and we have received no reports of a similar concern as the one detailed in [the Which?] test report."

She added that B&Q plan to monitor the product's performance but, "at the current time, have no reason to withdraw it from sale or change its construction."

Tesco's £15 charcoal barbecue with tool set scored well in the Which? test for cooking food evenly and with excellent flavour - rivalling last year's winner, Antony Worrall Thompson's Living Charcoal Kettle Grill at £89.

Argos' charcoal model scored the highest of the eight grills tested. Its Square Smoker BBQ retails at £29.39.
