Move gives us impetus to move forward, says Whitehall md.
Whitehall Garden Centres has joined the Tillington Group of independent Garden Centres.
Whitehall has two centres, one based in Lacock, Wiltshire and the other in Whitchurch, Bristol and is a family-run business, which recently featured on the BBC One Show.
The addition of Whitehall further strengthens the Tillington Group, which now has a turnover of £170 million from 11 members and 30 branches.
Peter Self of Whitehall said that the decision to join Tillington was taken primarily to be associated with similar privately-owned centres giving further impetus to the progress already being made at the Whitehall centres.
Whitehall was first started in 1972 by Christopher Self, (Peter's father) and although he and his mother, Mrs Phyllis Self are still involved, the business is run on a day-to-day basis by his two sons, Peter and Mark Self.
The addition of Whitehall makes it the second after Scotsdales Garden Centre joined in April.
The full list of Tillington Members is now Alton Garden Centre, Bents Garden Centre, Frosts Garden Centres, Hayes Gardenworld, Otter Nurseries, Ruxley Manor Garden Centre, Scotsdales Garden Centre, The Squires Group of Garden Centres, The van Hage Garden Company, Webbs of Wychbold and Whitehall Garden Centres.
