Wickes sets up charity tool trade-in
Published: 24 February 2014
Wickes has launched a charity tool trade-in across its UK stores to enable customers to recycle any tool in return for a discount.
The DIY retailer and building trade supplier, which is part of the Travis Perkins Group, will be running TradeIn across all Wickes stores until March 25.
The event, the first of its kind for the retailer, offers shoppers the opportunity to hand in their old tools for recycling in exchange for a 20% discount off any hand tool, hand power tool or hand power tool accessory in store. Consumers can even trade in a smaller tool in exchange for a discount on a big-ticket item.
The old tools will then be donated to WorkAid, a charity that collects and refurbishes unwanted tools before sending them to vocational programmes across Africa and the UK.
Simon King, managing director at Wickes, said: "WorkAid do a fantastic job of helping disadvantaged people learn the trade skills they need to start their own businesses, and we're thrilled to be teaming up with them for our TradeIn event.
"We're also excited to offer our customers such a fantastic discount across a great range of products - we're constantly looking for new ways to better engage with our customers, and we hope that both our trade and DIY shoppers will come together to take advantage of this great offer."
