Keith Barker has been appointed as managing director of building material provider Wienerberger following a wider European management reorganisation, which will see current MD, Harald Schwarzmayr take the position of COO of Pipelife North & Western Europe.

Mr Barker, who is currently Wienerberger UK’s commercial director, has been on the UK board for more than seven years and has played a key role in shaping the strategy of the business. He will assume the new role of managing director from September.

Over the past 10 years Wienerberger UK has delivered strong organic growth following a period of rapid acquisitions in the previous decade.

Mr Barker commented: “I’m delighted to be taking on the role of managing director of Wienerberger’s UK operations. Having worked within the senior management team for over seven years, I am excited to be taking this next step and helping further shape and mould Wienerberger’s future within the UK. We’ve seen some fantastic growth under Harald’s time as managing director and I’m keen to continue to expand on this success.”
