Phyllis Self MBE, who oversees the running of Whitehall Garden Centres, has scooped second prize in the Lifetime Achievement Awards organised by Wiltshire Life Magazine.
The award recognises the person or people who have made the biggest contribution to the county in their lifetime. Commenting on the accolade, Mrs Self said: "To be nominated for this award is a wonderful honour and I'm absolutely delighted, particularly as it is from a magazine based in Wiltshire.
Mrs Self still has a very active role in the company, which runs two centres. She is the company secretary and head of personnel, with responsibility for 200 staff.
"I've never thought about stopping, retiring or anything like that," said Mrs Self. "I like people too much. When people ask how I've got to 101, I say 'the secret is just being busy all the time, meeting people and dealing with people'. That's what I love about the garden centre. It keeps me young."
