Wyevale Garden Centres said today that it is adding to its estate with the acquisition of Moreton Park Garden Centre.
The purchase of the business, in Chirk, near Wrexham, on the English-Welsh border, will bring the total number of Wyevale garden centres to 141.
Wyevale, until recently known as The Garden Centre Group, says the 70,000sq ft centre will complement the company's existing coverage in the region. It is purchasing the business from Shropshire Leisure Group, which will now concentrate on its hotels and pub, also located in Chirk.
Wyevale chief executive Kevin Bradshaw said: "Moreton Park has an excellent reputation as a stand-out garden centre in the region. Known for its unique location, excellent plants and products and appeal to gardeners of all abilities, the centre is an ideal fit within our estate and we look forward to welcoming its customers and employees to our business."
Moreton Park Garden Centre will now adopt the Wyevale national umbrella brand and will become known as Moreton Park, a Wyevale Garden Centre.
The brand change from The Garden Centre Group to Wyevale Garden Centres will be implemented at the corporate level in mid-October 2014 with rollout complete to all centres by next February.
