With Wyevale Garden Centres (WGC) having already sold 100,000 fresh daffodils this month and donating a percentage of sales to Marie Curie's Great Daffodil Appeal, the charity is in line for a bumper handout.
This is the second year WGC has supported the Great Daffodil Appeal, Marie Curie's biggest annual fundraising campaign, which asks people to give a donation and wear one of the charity's daffodil pins throughout March. The garden centre chain is giving Marie Curie 10% of the price of all daffodils sold.
"Our customers' support for this initiative is inspiring, with over 100,000 fresh cut and potted daffodils sold this month, raising over £25,000," commented WGC marketing director Sarah Fuller.
"With a week to go, these purchases will help Marie Curie nurses care for people living with a terminal illness, so they can spend more time with the people they love."
WGC is supporting Marie Curie as part of a two-year partnership in its Gardens for Good community programme, which recognises the benefits that gardens and gardening can bring to individuals and local communities.
The retailer is aiming to raise over £500,000 between 2014 and 2016 to help Marie Curie.
