Wyevale GC kicks off vote for Crowders name change
Published: 8 February 2016
Following last month's
acquisition of Crowders Garden Centre in Horncastle, Lincolnshire, Wyevale Garden Centres said today that the business is to have a change of name.
Members of the local community are being invited to help choose the new name by placing a bulb in the voting box representing their name of choice. The winner will be unveiled on Wednesday March 16.
Visitors to the centre will be able to choose from three names put forward by employees at the centre.
They are: Wolds View - Trevor Blake and Simon Nagle's favourite scenic view of the Wolds from the plant area; Banovallum - historic Roman name for Horncastle, suggested by Richard Howitt; and Horncastle, after the Horncastle community
Wyevale is donating £500 to local voluntary emergency services charity Lives in recognition of the community's support for the initiative: Crowders has supported Lives for many years.
Staff member Trevor Blake commented: "Crowders has so much heritage and we're delighted to be part of the renaming process. I've been a colleague at the centre for 15 years and it's thrilling to have an input in this significant change for the centre."
