Wyevale Nurseries' new plant Salvia 'Love and Wishes' won the Best Plant Introduction - Nursery Stock Award at the Four Oaks Trade Show.
Wyevale Nurseries, based in Hereford, entered seven new plants for the award and were delighted that Salvia 'Love & Wishes' was crowned the winner at the trade show yesterday.
Sales and marketing director Adam Dunnett said: "We're ecstatic that Salvia 'Love & Wishes' was named as the winning plant in the Best Plant Introduction - Nursery Stock Award. It is a truly exceptional variety... It has deep purple flowers with deep burgundy calyces, dark green foliage and dark stems, which combine superbly to create a stunning plant."
The awards were judged by Garden Centre Association (GCA) chief executive, Iain Wylie, Horticultural Week Technical editor, Sally Drury and Horticultural Week editor, Kate Lowe.
The award was presented to Wyevale Nurseries at a special after show reception attended by more than 200 exhibitors.
Wyevale Nurseries is one of the largest family-run wholesale nurseries in the UK. It was established in 1930 by Harry Williamson, a horticulturist and entrepreneur. It became the company it is today under the leadership of his son, Peter, who sadly passed away in 2011.
