Solus garden tool brand Yeoman is celebrating its 21st anniversary with a Guinness World Record attempt.
The brand, which accounted for 10.4% of all UK tools sales in 2010, will attempt to produce the world's largest spade next month by smashing the current record of 3.61m held by Rollins Bulldog Tools Ltd.
Yeoman brand manager Robert Giles said: "We are thrilled to celebrate Yeoman's 21st year in such an exciting way. The world record attempt is a great start to the 2011/12 season. The sales results over the last 21 years speak for themselves and we are looking forward to sharing that success with stockists throughout the 2011/12 season."
Yeoman will be making 90 giant spades which will be available as part of a sales promotion for stockists at the Solus trade show at its Droitwich showrooms in October.
