York next for Dobbies

Scottish chain continues march into England
Dobbies has submitted a planning application to the City of York Council for a Garden World in Fulford.

The £8m centre will boast an indoor and outdoor garden area, a Farm Food Hall, restaurant, and indoor store for homewares.

A company spokesperson said the centre would be sustainable, with 10 per cent of its energy derived from renewable sources, and a grey water system used to recycle rainwater.

Dobbies hopes to open the site in Spring 2008 if approved.
