Garden furniture, grow your own and decorative garden structure specialist, Zest has chosen the British Heart Foundation (BHF) as its charity of the year in 2022. This follows on from a successful two years of fundraising Macmillan Cancer Support in 2020 and 2021, which resulted in a grand total of £25,819.99.
Alongside colleagues from its fellow divisions in the P&A Group, Zest employees will be throwing themselves into everything from marathons to cake days to raffles to support the BHF, targeting an initial total of £10,000.
Commenting on the announcement, Zest’s Managing Director, Steve Morgan said: “340,000 people in Wales alone are living with the daily burden of heart and circulatory diseases and at Zest, we like to raise money for great causes which really mean something to the team. I know this year will be no different and we’ve already had people signing up for the Manchester Marathon, 5K and 10K runs, daily exercise challenge, pledges to give up sweet treats for a month, virtual quiz nights and much more. We’re even hosting an event to throw wet sponges at the company directors for a fee!”
Head of BHF Cymru, Adam Fletcher said: “Heart and circulatory diseases cause heartache on every street in Wales and around twenty-six deaths each day. With your help, we are determined to do all we can to save and improve lives. Your donations will power the science to help find the breakthroughs, treatments, and cures of the future.
“With donations from the public, the BHF funds?ground-breaking?research that will get us closer than ever to a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. A world where broken hearts are mended, where millions more people survive a heart attack, where the number of people dying from or affected by a stroke is slashed in half. A world where people affected by heart and circulatory diseases get the support they need. And a world of cures and treatments we can’t even imagine today.”
Over the last eleven years, Zest employees and their P&A Group colleagues have raised more than £100,000 for a variety of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Meningitis Now.
